The Poor Clare Nuns have played an important role in the history of churches and religion in the New Orleans area. The convent, located in uptown New Orleans, is one of the last remaining vestiges of true convent life in Louisiana. It was verified, by way of a phone call to St. Clare's Monastery on August 3, 2012, that the convent and chapel listed above have never housed a pipe organ.
